La Cineteca opens a new terrace to spend the afternoon and drink wine

This month they inaugurated the new terrace of the Cineteca Nacional, a simple space to order wine or a beer and listen to some music in the afternoon.

For two hours or all day, the Cineteca Nacional works. A pleasant change to the commercial chain cinemas, always immersed on the top floor of a crowded shopping mall, with three films in its 19 screens. We moviegoers have perfected the technique of arriving right at the beginning of the movie to avoid the insufferable 15 minutes of commercials and leaving as soon as the first credit appears. No one wants to stay a minute longer than necessary. The Cineteca Nacional is the pleasant exception; all its spaces invite you to arrive earlier and leave later. There is the bookstore(which right now has discounts), an ice cream at Roxy if you go early, a dinner at La Chicha if you leave late; a concert at its new terrace to add a couple of hours more, close with a flourish, order wine or a beer, listen to some jazz.

Actually, the new terrace of the Cineteca already existed. Since the gallery space was inaugurated it was there, on the top floor, which is reached by the stairs in front of the cube. Last year it hosted the Fiesta de la Música, and from time to time the openings or closings of exhibitions were held there. A couple of months ago they decided to remodel it, they roofed it and surrounded it with the transparent curtains of any terrace to block the air, they put a wooden floor, a nice stage, chairs, tables and a bar. Without complicating their lives, the bar offers craft beers, national beers, wine, popcorn and a cold meat platter; nothing else. And what better.

From Thursday to Sunday you can listen to music between 5 and 11 pm. The stage is filled with rock, jazz and folk; every once in a while a dj takes over the turntables. Access is free and as they still don't have an online billboard of events, much of the charm is to arrive and see what you find, although if you like to plan ahead you can keep an eye on their social networks, where they always announce the events. A few days ago the jazz band Mr. Paisa opened the show (you can see a video of their performance here), and there was also the folk band Apache O'Raspi.

This weekend will feature Belafonte Sensacional(Friday 13), which defines itself as a group that encompasses everything between Belle & Sebastian and Joan Sebastian, and the Jorge Servín trio (Saturday 14), of contemporary and minimalist jazz.
