In the Roma neighborhood, Galea emerges as a sanctuary of flavors that combines Italian tradition with a contemporary vision deeply rooted in local ingredients. Under the direction of chef Rafael Zaga, who brings with him a decade of experience at the prestigious Marea restaurant in New York, this space redefines Italian gastronomy in Mexico, incorporating creativity, impeccable seasoning and respect for the seasonality of the ingredients.
Galea's culinary proposal is a tribute to the Italian heritage, but with a twist that dialogues with the flavors of Mexico. From spaghetti al pomodoro made with tomatoes from Valle de Bravo, to homemade pastas such as garganelli with fresh mushrooms and ricotta salata, the only dish that has never left the menu.

When we visited Galea, within the framework of the festival A Qué Me Sabesfestival, the chef, Rafael Zaga had already prepared some veggie friendly options for us to get to know the full range of flavors of the restaurant. We started with the Thousand Leaves of Sweet Potato accompanied by pepita and pecorino and a green salad to whet the appetite. We continued with the classic Garganelli of fresh mushrooms and the Culurgiones, a type of pasta stuffed with potato, spinach and pecorino, simply spectacular.
And of course, the experience would not be complete without exploring their desserts, such as the toasted marshmallow with salted caramel and fior di lattelos sorbet, which is basically a milk ice cream, milk flavor, made with the idea of cleansing the palate from the whirlwind of flavors that is the Torta al Formagio.

At Galea, the menu evolves according to the season, ensuring that each visit is a new experience. More than a restaurant, it is a laboratory of ideas where the traditional meets the unexpected. It is a place to be experienced and remembered, ideal for intimate dinners, celebrations or simply for those looking to explore Italian food from a fresh and exciting perspective.
