Where to eat in Doctores, recommendations from Can Can Press

La Doctores has nooks and crannies that, although discreet, offer authentic feasts of flavor. Its fondas are the gastronomic soul of the neighborhood, where homemade seasoning, generous portions and affordable prices combine with a warmth difficult to find elsewhere.

Jackie Crespo and Andrea Bravo of Can Can Press recommended 3 fondas and a cantina to eat with the seal of the 3 B's (good, nice and cheap) in Colonia Doctores.

FONDA PACHUCA SPECIAL FG

Fonda Pachuca Especial FG is an option for those looking for uncomplicated Mexican dishes at a good price. The menu is varied, with options that include their famous "Pachuca Especial" and Cuban tortas that do not go unnoticed.

Although there are divided opinions about the taste-some describe it as rich and others as a bit greasy-it is a good alternative if you want something filling and economical.

It's the kind of place where you can arrive hungry and leave satisfied without overspending.

NANA PANCHA

This is a fonda that lives up to the neighborhood classic: generous, fast and delicious. Here, breakfast can be a small party. For a modest price, green chilaquiles with eggs come with coffee and juice.

The menu changes daily, offering options that leave no one unsatisfied. But if you are looking for something more specific, they have a la carte dishes and take-out service (they are on Didi, in case you need to solve fast). What stands out is the relaxed atmosphere: the service is attentive, the smiles flow, and even if you go alone, the experience feels accompanied and enjoyable. It's the kind of place you always come back to because it makes you feel good.

FONDA EL ESPIRAL

Fonda El Espiral is one of those places that stand out for its flavor and details. The food has a homemade seasoning that is noticeable in every dish, with generous portions, handmade tortillas and fresh water that really complement the experience. In addition, even the dessert has its own thing.

The menu is varied, with options ranging from classic dishes to surprising chef's proposals. Prices are fair, and although service can be a bit slow at times, the quality of the food makes up for it.

THE SELLA

El Sella is not just a restaurant in Doctores, it is an institution that has been setting the standard for Spanish cuisine in the city for decades. Founded in 1945, this place has become a benchmark for both the neighbors of the neighborhood and for diners who cross the city to try its specialties.

Among the not-to-be-missed dishes are the chamorro, chorizo in cider, meat juice, meat tartare and Galician-style octopus, dishes that reflect a mastery of seasoning and respect for traditional recipes. In addition, the ate con queso is a perfect ending to any meal. The service is fast and efficient, and the ambience invites you to enjoy without rushing.

Because of its history and consistency, El Sella is an ideal place to go in a group, order several dishes in the center and share an authentic experience. It is a space that mixes the classic with the timeless, and remains a must stop in the Doctores neighborhood and in Mexico City.
