Another Condesa, an obsession with coffee

The beautiful street of Alfonso Reyes is ideal for new beginnings: if you feel like running or walking beyond the usual, doing so on its giant walkway is mind-blowing. The modern apartments, which are not so tall and not so extravagant but luxurious, the trees that remain despite the new constructions and the silence that reigns every morning, make this area ideal for beginnings. I don't know if knowing this, but hitting the nail on the head, Another opened right on the corner of Saltillo.

At Another the motto is simple: we want you to be here all day, every day. Since they are open from 8 in the morning, anyone can stop by for breakfast and a cup of coffee, their specialty. In fact, they have several extraction methods and various beans that they bring not only from other regions of Mexico, but from other countries. The menu keeps a part especially for their beans and the ways in which they can prepare it, but if you get overwhelmed, any of their waiters will be able to recommend something according to what you are looking for.

Now, the place has luxury finishes. The steel strips that decorate the wall and ceiling are super striking, the concrete walls, the wooden tables in ocher tones do nothing but invite people to sit down and talk about their real problems. For example, although I arrived in the middle of the morning -it was already about 11:20-, there were quite a few people... and they kept coming. Next to me, a couple of friends were discussing the advantages and disadvantages of parenthood; of those relationships that, although destined to fail, are full of love and affection. I ordered a ham sandwich and a cucumber soda, worked on the computer for a while. Then another table got busy next to me: a couple of young people talking about their plans for college, staying here or going to Madrid.

My refrescante came first and then came the sandwich. Although the prices are high, Condesa friendly, the truth is that the portions are generous. The sandwich can easily be shared between two (however, I didn't because sometimes I like to follow Joey Tribbiany's maxim). As I stared in amazement at the salad, pickles and Dijon mustard that accompany the sandwich, I listened as one of the young women asked the waiter which was better, the eggs or the chilaquiles, and he - very tense and thoughtful - recommended the eggs without further ado. There is something special about a place that makes you feel like you can hesitate as many times as you want or that you don't need to look at the menu, but trust blindly.

Maybe Another is skeptical because it's in English and it draws in the mind another possible Condesa, but very soon it will become an essential of Alfonso Reyes (the street, not the essayist, although if he were alive... who knows), like Ciena or Botánico. Although their specialty, their brand, their imprint is coffee; they sell wines all day long and brunchtails with just the right dose of piquete to start, I don't know, a Monday maybe.
