We talked to the team at Cafeleería, in the south of the city, and they recommended 5 new publications to start 2022 reading.
Cafeleería, as its name says, is a place where reading and drinks are mixed and that for thirteen years has become the ideal place to discover new books, meet illustrators and enjoy a good coffee on Tasqueña Avenue.

The Italian author and illustrator is characterized by the mixture of line, color, shadow, texture, tension, volume, distance and scale to create new landscapes. These three small books are protected by a little yellow box that unfolds, which gives the sensation of discovering a treasure. They are the result of a co-publication between Impronta Casa editora and Petra Ediciones, there are only two hundred copies, you can get one here in Cafeleería.

The revenge of the punks by Vivien Goldman
Although many books and essays have been written about punk, its history, its protagonists and even fashion, but Vivien Goldman explores the participation of women in this movement and what was its influence. It is a book published by Contra, an independent publisher from Barcelona.
Onion of Pachiclón
Rafael Rodríguez 'Pachiclón' is an illustrator from the CDMX being the city one of his main inspirations. Cebolla is his new book in which he presents Cebolla, a character as endearing and funny as Bart Simpson could be but who travels in the Mexico City subway. It is published by Ediciones Valiente and comes with a monograph and a poster.
Transparent house by María Luque
Although this graphic novel is from 2017, it is still a good pretext to think about the way we inhabit, what makes a house a house and what non-places are. María Luque, Argentine illustrator, won the I Graphic Novel Prize Ciudades Iberoamericanas organized by the Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities (UCCI) together with the City Council of Madrid and Editorial Sexto Piso, from this she was able to publish this graphic novel.
