Fiction, play and design, the Niños Héroes collective at AGO Projects

The Madrid-based collective presents in CDMX its version of contemporary and collectible design at AGO Projects.

The first design exhibition of the Madrid-based collective Niños Héroes opened this Art Week at AGO Projects. 'Simultaneous Translation' is the transformation of objects and space; the mixing of free sketches with the formality of gallery walls, the playful destabilization of furniture.

The studio formed by Luis Úrculo, Nuria Úrculo and Gabriel Román, presents a series of objects and environments in the exhibition produced under the creative direction of Luis Úrculo. 'Simultaneous Translation' denotes "a deep appreciation of the ephemeral objects of everyday life" with home pieces such as a dining room, lamps, curtains, masks and pendants made of metal, glass and embroidery.

Drawing spontaneous blue shapes on white tiles, motifs and materials typical of public restrooms, Niños Héroes coordinates these walls with its chairs made of plate glass, and brass masks that illuminate the space with their mocking gesture. It looks like a fictitious environment, but it is functional and collectible design - "a whimsical and joyful mockery of contemporary design devotion.

Simultaneous Translation' by Niños Héroes will be on display at AGO Projects until April 21. Paseo de la Reforma 382, int 501. @agoprojects
