Tiempos, the brand created by Sinaloa designer Esteban Tamayo, is an attempt to make clothes that stand the test of time: not only in terms of quality, but also in terms of concept. Clothes that reduce the urgency to fit in and belong, that are only used to accompany what we truly are. It is about, as their Instagram bio says, "evidences that happen in fleeting moments with the aim of creating punctual and lasting moments".
Although the idea for Tiempos emerged between 2021 and 2022, it wasn't until 2023 that it materialized in a futuristic store in Colonia Juárez. "At the beginning it was a more personalized experience, we sold only through Instagram and people had to make an appointment to visit our showroom," Kevin Tellez, the store manager, tells me.

Visions of the future in Tiempos Shop
The store has its own workshop upstairs and a mini-warehouse in the back. There is a very simple fitting room and a carpeted lounge area, with a chair and a wall lined with mirrors so you can see how your clothes fit from various angles. In addition, the space is made up of circular stainless aluminum structures and white lights that stand out from outside the store, designed by Sala Hars, the architecture firm founded by Douglas Harsevoort and Juan Sala.
Tiempos Shop is designed in such a way that the racks of clothes slide along the ceiling to change the layout of the place from time to time, or are completely detached to open up a space with multiple possibilities: once it was the runway stage for Tamayo's most recent collection. On another occasion, an artist's work was presented and the party was held there. "The idea is that this space will also serve the community for other things," says Kevin.

Everyone wants to be like (B)her
Each collection takes its due time and care. Not only are there pants, shirts, skirts, ties, shorts, tops and vests; on the shelves there are also pastel-colored handbags, scarves, pashminas and shiny leather wallets. You can feel that each piece is designed and made to resist the only thing that remains constant over time: change.
One of the milestones that marked the life of Tiempos was when model Bella Hadid wore one of the brand's flagship vests. Since then, it has become one of the best-selling products: for three thousand pesos, anyone can look like Hadid. However, Tamayo's looks have transcended high-end streetwear. The May cover of Rolling Stone magazine in Spanish is dedicated to Alvaro Diaz, "the future of music," who wears a leather jacket and short wings ensemble. Similarly, Danna Paola arrived at the Latin Grammy Awards wearing a corset-like mini-dress with details intervened with fire. The popularity of these pieces marked the approach of the public to the clothes made by a young designer named Esteban Tamayo.

Tiempos Shop + Nevería Roxy?
Anyone who thinks of a clothing store doesn't instantly associate it with an ice cream shop. But it turns out that there is a collaboration between Tiempos and the Roxy ice cream shop. For now it's only reflected in some little cups with the Tiempos slogan printed on the white cardboard: Pieces of evidence within fleeting times, an aim to create punctual yet lasting moments. "Who knows what might happen in the future, but we want there to be a taste of Tiempos," Kevin confesses. The question then inevitably arises: what might these times taste like? It is not only necessary to follow the lead of Esteban Tamayo -who had already surprised the industry with creations such as Ready To Die and Lumberjack-, but also the concept of Tiempos, a versatile space that invites to dress the present without fearing what will come in the future.
