According to Midori, author of the books The Seductive Art of Japanese Rope Bondage and The Toybag Guide to Foot and Shoe Worship, "the bondage is as much a mental pleasure as a physical one. For Ivana Favaretto, passionate about the transformative power of footwear, Favaretto is much more than just a shoe brand: it is a canvas where fantasy, nostalgia and the very essence of femininity are captured.
Handcrafted shoes that embrace sensuality
Rather than focusing on sexy, Favaretto's handcrafted shoes embrace sensuality. This attitude permeates every aspect of their philosophy, from the confidence their designs exude when walking to the way a pair of shoes can make the wearer feel. "Sensuality is an attitude that embraces all aspects of life, it is savoring life with all the senses and being present and connected with ourselves and the world around us," explains Ivana who holds a master's degree in footwear from the Marangoni Institute in Milan, Italy, where her family also hails from.
The decision to produce locally in Mexico City is not only a matter of economics or sustainability, but also of preserving an endangered artisanal legacy. Favaretto is committed to honoring and promoting the techniques and knowledge passed down from generation to generation. Under the guidance of master craftsman José Martínez Segura, Favaretto only makes small productions. Its models range from 5,800 peso pumps to custom-made boots with five-figure prices.
But Favaretto is not limited to just shoes. From performative installations with shoes at banquets to captivating videos, the brand explores multiple media and senses. They recently designed the shoes for singer Mon Laferte's tour. The result of this remarkable amalgamation of sensuality and craftsmanship can be seen in their work.
