CONVERSATORY: THE DIEGO RIVERA MURAL THAT ROCKEFELLER DESTROYED
November 21
19:00 - 20:00 pm
Museo Diego Rivera Anahuacalli, Mexico City

As part of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Museo Diego Rivera Anahuacalli, the latest conversation entitled "The Diego Rivera Mural that Rockefeller Destroyed" will take place. Art critic and researcher Dr. Irene Herner Reiss will lead us to reflect on one of the most controversial episodes in the career of the Mexican muralist: the creation and subsequent destruction of Man at the Crossroads.

Commissioned in 1932 for Rockefeller Center in New York, the work included elements such as the figure of Vladimir Lenin and a frontal critique of capitalism, sparking a conflict with the American business elite that culminated in its destruction in 1933. This analysis will address the symbolism, controversy and historical relevance of a piece that remains a testament to the disruptive power of art and Rivera's visionary legacy.

This conversation not only invites us to explore one of the most fascinating and challenging moments in Diego Rivera's career, but also celebrates the relevance of his work and his message in the context of the 60th anniversary of the Museo Anahuacalli.

Admission is free, subject to registration.
