FRACTURED SOLITUDES
December 12
19:00 to 21:00 pm
Puebla 114, Roma
Fractured Solitudes is a hybrid exhibition inspired by Octavio Paz's iconic book The Labyrinth of Solitude. Kitty Rice and Andrea Villalón pay homage to Paz from their own experiences, exploring nostalgia and Mexican identity through their unique perspectives. Villalón, originally from Michoacán, experiences Paz's nostalgia from England, reconstructing her connection to Mexico through memories of her childhood in Uruapan and her upbringing in Mexico City. Her imagined visions of cempasúchil, canoes and the mystical island of Janitzio embody the search for the lost and confusion with the present, aligning with Paz's reflections on Mexican history and identity.
On the other hand, Kitty Rice approaches El Laberinto de la Soledad from a globalist perspective, living her own loneliness from London in a multicultural environment. Her work explores the ambiguity of wanting to identify herself as English while disconnecting from much of her country's identity, reflecting a unique connection to the Mexican experience from a transcendent otherness. Both approaches converge in an exhibition that challenges traditional notions of identity and nostalgia, creating a space for reflection and creativity.

TERRA LINGUA
14 December
18:00 pm
Eugenia 1360, Narvarte
Mariana Parisca's solo exhibition is presented at Eugenia Espacio Creativo as a plastic exploration around the mythological figure of the mermaid. Through sculptures that integrate different materials, the artist explores the multiple meanings associated with this feminine image, symbol of seduction and fear of the unknown. The work invites us to reflect on the association of the feminine with the occult, reinterpreting these narratives from a contemporary perspective.
Parisca, an interdisciplinary artist born in the United States and Venezuela, currently based in Mexico City, employs photography, video, sound and sculpture to investigate the relationships between matter, consciousness and their implications in global culture. Terra Lingua stands out as an intimate exploration of shifting senses and the constant translation of images and concepts, showing how art becomes a bridge to the unexplored.
